About the Artist

The Story of Eric Labacz

Eric LabaczAs long as Eric can remember, he has expressed himself creatively. Visual Art was the earliest form of this expression. As a young boy he learned to paint by watching his father paint with oils. At the age of 11, Eric began taking private lessons; continuing through high school and into college. In 1993, he graduated from Tyler School of Art with a strong focus in graphic design. His degree allowed him to secure a position designing for such clients as Walt Disney Attractions, PolyGram Video, NFL Films, Fleer/Skybox and Marvel Comics.

In his mid twenties, Eric began exploring his subconscious-self through painting and began to exhibit in the Bucks county area. He become a member of Artsbridge, a non-profit arts community based in Lambertville, NJ and moved to an arts commune in Pipersville, PA. While living there, Eric connected with the Lenape Nation of PA and began working as an artist for the tribe's fund-raising efforts. This connection became a strong source of inspiration for Eric and his art. He began exploring making his own paints from plants and stones, working with natural materials and bringing forth imagery which reflected a strong spiritual connection to the Earth.

Eric LabaczIn his early thirties, other forms of expression became available to Eric. He began to play music, teaching himself guitar and the Native American flute. Inspired by Lenape ceremony, he also began to explore movement, performance and mask-making which continued to reflect his ongoing connection to the natural world.

The combination of his experiences with the Lenape culture and a spiritual awakeng, he has been guided to bring to the world "The Wisdom of the Animals". Through these symbols, Eric hopes to communicate the beautiful lessons we learn from the animals that we share this planet with and awaken within us our human-ness and a revived sense of our stewardship of our home, the Earth.
